The Netherlands has 12 provinces, each with its own character and dialect. The Randstad (North and South Holland, Utrecht) is the urban heart. Friesland has its own official language. The southern provinces (Brabant, Limburg) have Catholic traditions and Carnaval. Each region has unique customs.

Study note
Carnaval is huge in the south (Brabant, Limburg) - three days of parades, costumes, and parties before Lent. Frisian (Frysk) is an official language with its own TV channel.
